First off, I am new at this. I have been a DM for a couple of groups, and I started in DnD 5E (I know….sacrilege) about 2 years ago. When I started DMing for my first group I fell in love with the idea of creating a world for them to rampage through. The only problem I ran into was that I felt the campaign setting was a little impersonal. Don’t get me wrong the traditional Wizards of the Coast campaign settings are very well rounded, and beautifully designed. I just like to make things way more difficult than they need to be. All of my players didn’t seem to mind, so I began the pain-staking process of crafting a world from scratch. I wanted a campaign that had my own pantheon of dieties, my own cities, my own personality represented in each of the characters they interacted with.
Thus Fenwrath was born!
Well not quite. It’s more like:
Thus one city with a name taken from a random name generator on the internet was born!
But the first sounds better. Alright enough about my failure, the first post I wanted to make should be designed to help my current players, and give them a location to look for information about the history of our fair continent of Fenwrath. So if you are one of my players, have fun delving into the Fenwrath, A History.
Over 200 years ago, most of what was known about Fenwrath was lost in an event that has become known as the Calamity. The Calamity was a time when the planes collided and overlapped onto one another. Most of what is known about this event can be found in religious tomes, some of it real some of it embellished. Out of all of it, one thing is certain, this was a time when the gods throughout the upper and lower planes walked our plane, the Prime Material. These deities kept to themselves, for the most part, choosing not to get involved with most mortals.
There was a point where the demons of the abyss began to rise up corrupting and tormenting mortal men and women. The celestial deities from the upper planes, joined forces with the devils of the 9 Hells and fought against these demons. Eventually this led to the correction of the planes, and the destruction of most of the demons of the abyss.
The planes were righted and all seemed well, leading to the end of the 3rd era. At the beginning of the 4th era, a rising elvish prince named Pailios Nailo saw an opportunity for Fenwrath in its void for leadership. He marched his father’s armies eastward from their home in Ebriom across the Great Expanse (a massive desert separating the continents). Under his leadership, the tribes and villages united and flourished. Most of the cities today were founded under his command. For 200 years the elvish prince ruled as king of Fenwrath, from his capital city of Lenanore.
Though no one really knows what started it, a war broke out between a human, Lord Daxio Nayrond and the Elvish king. The human lord brought together the gnomes of the east, the Halflings of the west, the dwarves of the north, and three dragon borne clans. Together Daxio and his armies marched south causing a near genocide of the Elvish peoples and resigning them to the deserts of Lenanore, the Elvish king Nailo disappeared.
This war lasted three long years and culminated in Daxio Nayrond being named the new king. His reign could best be described as erradic, culminating in his disappearance. Following his stint as king, the less than distrought people of Fenwrath decided that a democratically elected council would better serve the future of the country. For the past 20 years, under the council, Fenwrath has prospered. New trade routes were formed connecting the various cities, and establishing more commerce through the region. There were also new systems put in place creating a giant voice system throughout the major cities connecting them further. Among these changes was the establishment of the laws against lycanthropy and the protected status of the Direwood and its inhabitants.

This post is an initial test, and a more in depth version of Fenwrath, A History will be coming soon.
This is great!
